Faubourg Paris
769 Hornby Street, Vancouver, BC
(Across from the Vancouver Art Gallery)

Faubourg Paris is a patisserie shop specializing in french cakes, macarons and pastries. It's in the most convenient location out of the three patisseries that I've been to so far; situated across the Vancouver Art Gallery on the Hornby Street side. The Vancouver City Center Canada Line station is a block away and is the main mode of transport I'd take to get here. There's a patio and an indoor seating area depending on your choosing, but requesting 'take out' is also possible.

Once you walk in, you're transported to a magical place of sweet aromas and vibrant colors. The wide selection of macarons are the first things you see as they're bestsellers (as noted on instagram by the many posts from friends). There are monthly macaron specials such as Jasmine Tea, Grapefruit Rosemary and Lavender Earl Grey to name a few.

Further down the counter, there are about 2 to 3 whole cakes and 5 to 6 types of smaller individual cakes. Each cake has been masterfully designed and they all look completely unique to each other. They usually range from $5 to $7 dollars each, while the larger cakes can set you back $36 to $45 dollars.
And finally at the end is their pastries and bread section freshly baked out of the 7 foot tall oven.

Tiramisu
-Coffee, Crumbly Pastry, Cocao Powder, White and Dark Chocolate
The Tiramisu didn't have an overpowering coffee taste which was great.

Chocolate Mille Feuille
-Dark Chocolate, Vanilla Bean Creme, Hazelnuts
I had the pleasure to try the Chocolate Mille Feuille, which I learned days later was only available for July. Everything's super well balanced in this dessert in both light and heavier layers.

Individual Lemon Tart
-Lemon Curd + Vanilla Foam in a Short (Buttery) Pie Crust w/ Pearl Sugar
I found the lemon tart beyond sour. My friends liked it, so maybe it was just me probably haha.
The pearl sugar gives this dessert a great texture though.

Chausson Aux Pommes (Apple Turnover)
-Apple Compote (sugar syup) w/ Cinnamon in a puff pastry
The apple pastry is very delicious served warm and its like eating a lighter apple pie.

Garlic And Cheese French Baguette
-Garlic + Thyme and Swiss + Cheddar Cheese in a freshly baked baguette
The Garlic and Cheese baguette was a little tough as all baguettes are, but the taste was very good with outstanding flavours all throughout the bread.
