Tractor is a very inviting, on-the-go type of restaurant. The interior looks like a cafeteria combined with an Ikea, if Ikea went on a nature walk. It's perfectly located at the start of the Kitsilano region and the Granville Island area, where we can probably assume that all the people are 100% organic! Haha.
The price is very affordable for all the quality ingredients they use, and the portions that you get are well worth the price. Tractor aims to use locally sourced, seasonal fruits and vegetables to make their dishes. It's a health nut's dream!
I got the Veggie Salad: (Organic quinoa, kale, pomegranate, butternut squash, mint, basil, lemon dressing) Since the draw of antioxidants and nutrients enticed me. The price for 1 choice of salad is $3.25.
My friend ordered the Butternut Squash soup ($6) w/ a side of Blueberry Mint Lemonade ($3). The soup comes with fresh, herbed bread, which I put onto my salad plate for a more attractive visual look. My friend said the soup was a little bland, but the lemonade was spot-on.
I'm usually not a fan of quinoa salads, but I eat them for their health benefits. This salad however, was really enjoyable and light on the stomach. I could taste the freshness of the ingredients that they used, and the flavors worked very well together. The thing that really shocked me was that a slice of Tuna Tataki Sashimi for salad garnish was $5; which is EXPENSIVE!! It's tempting for a sushi lover like me, but even I know when the price is too much for me. Just the salad alone is perfectly fine!
If you want to recreate the dishes you try here, there's a Whole Foods market a couple blocks down the road. Whole Foods the the literally the best organic supermarket ever! Fresh produce and superfoods line every aisle. It's fun even just to walk around in if organic foods are out of your budget.
